A team of volunteers from local security company Lodge Service rolled up their sleeves to help Brent Lodge Park Animal Centre in Ealing with some much-needed maintenance work

A team of 21 volunteers from security specialists Lodge Service rolled up their sleeves to help Brent Lodge Park Animal Centre in Ealing, London, with some much-needed maintenance work on July 25th and October 24th 2013.

Lodge Service is a third-generation family business, founded in 1919 and with offices in Barnet, London. There are 800 staff nationwide, providing CCTV and guarding services in the UK and eight other countries.

Brent Lodge Park, at Church Road in Hanwell, is an award-winning zoo run by Ealing Council that houses a range of animals including exotic birds and mammals as well as domestic species including rabbits, chickens and guinea pigs. The butterfly house is open from April to September each year.

Cabinet member for transport and environment, Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, said:

“ A big thank you to everyone at Lodge Service who volunteered to help us out at Brent Lodge Animal Centre. The volunteers worked hard to clear weeds and undergrowth, trim back trees, and plant new trees and shrubs, which helped to ensure one of Ealing's most loved parks continues to look its best.”

Simon Chapman, managing director of Lodge Service said:

“ We are delighted to help the animal centre. It was an interesting and challenging day out for the volunteers from our staff and I’d encourage all local companies to give up a day or two each year to help the centre and similar local projects. It’s good for team building and healthy outdoor exercise too!”
